About John Francis Oswego
John Francis, an Oswego, Illinois educator, received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin, and his master’s in school leadership from Concordia University. He has completed several professional development courses, including the Danielson Framework for Teaching and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, and he is currently working on a continuing education Special Education training course. Early on in his career, John Francis worked as a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher in the Oswego Unit School District, and he is currently an assistant principal of Long Beach Elementary there.
In his free time, Mr. Francis enjoys traveling, and together with his father, has visited more than 40 Major League Baseball stadiums over the years. He and his father began taking the trips after his parents divorced. Though the father-son relationship was strained by the break-up, the two reconciled and wrote a book about how they did it.
Every Fourth of July week, John Francis and his family also visit Lake Minocqua in Wisconsin. A fan of the outdoors, he is often found outside gardening and doing yard work during the summer. He also frequently has campfires and makes “s’mores” with his family.
